Rutledge Real Estate

Rutledge is a small city with a strong sense of community in Tennessee! This city is the county seat in Grainger county. Grainger county is the only Tennessee county named after a woman, Mary Grainger Blout, wife of Governor William Blout. Rutledge is a part of the Morristown Metropolitan area and was established in 1797. The area was named after General George Rutledge. At this time Rutledge was the first municipality to have its own police department.

Rutledge is rich in history, with many structures still standing today! The Rutledge Presbyterian Church and Cemetery is a significant piece of Rutledge history, with burials dating back to 1864. This Folk Victorian style church has Gothic Revival details like stained glass and old brickwork. The area also has a replica of an 1820s tailor shop operated by Andrew Johnson, which was originally located in Greeneville, Tennessee.

This is a great city to raise a family, with friendly residents and everything from vintage homes to historic estates. Rutledge is known for its famous Grainger Tomatoes, which are found in abundance at Red Barn Produce. The area is also home to the Joppa Mountain Pottery Gallery, which offers authentic stoneware and Raku pottery, all crafted on site!
